Maverex celebrates its women-owned business status

At the end of May 2020, Maverex was formally recognised by WEConnect International, a not-for-profit organisation working to connect women-owned and controlled businesses globally.

Maverex was awarded with a certification for Women’s Business Enterprise; acknowledging Maverex not only as a women-owned company, but as also wanting to do business with others who are committed to global supplier diversity and inclusion. The criteria for certification is for the company to be at least 51% owned, managed, and controlled by one or more women.

Sue Langham, director and co-founder of Maverex, said: “Not only are we a women majority-owned business, but more than half of our workforce are women; across all departments and levels of experience.

“We’re celebrating this achievement, but women only make up 24% of all people working in STEM occupations in the UK (Wise Campaign, 2019). Although this is seen to be rising, we want to be the rule and not the exception, and we’re looking forward to working with other companies in our industry that are also owned, managed and controlled by women.”
